I’ve refrained from details about what I’ve been writing until certain matters were confirmed, but I can now say that another Grand Illusions book is complete and has been turned in to my editor. The title is Legalist, and it’s a prequel to Isolate, taking place more than four hundred years earlier. The book deals with the events and machinations following the fall of Aloor and the establishment of the Imperium and the increasing political and actual infighting as it becomes clear that Imperador Laureous does not have that long to live.
It’s too earlier to say when it will be released, but I doubt it could be before late in 2026 at the earliest, although, since it’s not a Recluce book, it could be sooner. That’s up to Tor.
I have barely begun work on another novel, which is all I’ll say for now.
Great news!
This is good news!
Awesome! I love that series!
Bravo!!!!! I am glad to be returning to the Grand Illusion even if it a long wait. 🙂
The other 3 are on my reread list, & I’m still very curious to know how Steffan’s bill on ‘working women’ comes out. This series truly is another winner.
Terrific! Thanks!
i cannot believe i have been totally engrossed in a book that begins each chapter with the same breakfast, has the same choices for lunch every day, employs the main character by answering multiple letters and waits for something exciting to turn up. love it, love it. it looks like the next book in the series will be a prequel. are steffan and arvaal just going to live happily ever after?
I very much thought there would be a fourth book set multiple years in the future, perhaps where the Imperador dies and/or Steffan ends up as premier. But obviously that’s just me 🙂
Outstanding! Thank you!
Excited about another book! Have you considered a cookbook that covers all of your series? Love how you blend in food as a way of coloring your stories
I am a major fan. I own every book and am so excited for any of your books. Thank you for writing them. They make me happy.
Nice. Really enjoying these books.
Just about wrapped up Contrarian. I will look forward to this one in a couple years!
Absolutely love the series, has been my introduction to your work. Looking forward to Legalist and any stories you want to share in this universe!
If finished reading Overcaptain yesterday and loved it. I do have one request (which is probably unrealistic): PLEASE ask Tor and Amazon to release Sub-Majer’s Challenge early! I want to give them my money sooner. 🙂
Sub-Majer’s Challenge is scheduled for release near the end of August next year. That was the earliest I could persuade Tor to release it.
Got “Overcaptain”, held for a month for delayed gratification, then rationed 50 pages per day to make it last, given I will wait another year (at least) for your next book.
I am 78 and had a successful career that received little feedback, so I try to give when deserved. THANK YOU for your talented writing! I have read at least 82 of your books and hope to live long enough for a few more.
I will keep hoping for more of Steffan. So many possible ongoing threads.
I’ve been doing yet another relisten to the audio books…which are very well done.
Just chiming in to say that I read and very much enjoyed Overcaptain. I found every excuse to read it, up to and including reading it when I was brushing my teeth, a standard very few books achieve, since it isn’t really a great plan!
Looking forward to the rest of the quadrilogy. Thank you for your work.
