November 18th Question

Just wondering why there aren’t any maps in From the Forest or Overcaptain? Is this your choice, or Tor’s? I enjoy your writing, and the world you’ve created in Recluce.

As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, I submitted updated rough maps to Tor, i.e. annotated versions of older maps. I was told that the combination of copyright on the original maps and cost to redraw them made including them infeasible.

Is there anyway we, your readers could see the maps you submitted?

    1. Not legally, because I created the maps based on copyrighted material. That wasn’t a problem for a submission to Tor or for my using them as a plotting tool, but publishing them, even on the internet, could create problems I’d rather not deal with.

I just wanted to say thank you for your books. Years ago they were an escape for me during tough times and they hold a special place in my heart to this day. I especially thank you for Creslin who I got back and visit regularly in a book that had to be rebound I visit so often. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
