The ensign of Recluce is a black Ryall upon a white background, but what is a ryall?
A ryall is a three-lobed flower, similar in shape to the fleur-de-lis, except that the petals are more rounded at the ends. The petals are black, with white edges, and occasionally, white veins through the petals. It generally grows in desolate and rocky places and blooms infrequently.
Would you ever consider turning one of your books or series into a video game, specifically Imager or Recluce?
I’d be more than happy to have someone make a decent video game out of any of my books, but, alas, it’s not so easy as it looks. Over the past ten years, I’ve had three game developers take an option to develop a Recluce game and attempt to create one. Two were small; one was an established mid-sized gaming company. All gave up, for reasons never made clear to me and never got as far as running a prototype by me. I’ve even talked to several larger gaming companies, and no one seemed interested.
I was wondering how soon the next entry in the Imager Portfolio would be released.
Imager’s Intrigue is scheduled for release in late July of this year. Tor will not schedule the Imager Portfolio book I’m currently working on until I actually finish it and they accept it, and that’s not likely to happen until mid to late summer.
The forever hero was one of my favorites.
Could you bring him back from senility for
another round of books?
Thanks, You have given me many days of reading.

I’m afraid not, but I appreciate your thoughts.
Your blog is so nice, I like it.
It’s a shame really…I always thought Recluce would make a fantastic backdrop for an RPG.
Honestly, as much as I am a huge fan of the world, the magic style, and the works… I really can’t see it working as a game. Why? Because there’s real penalty for the magic… and that makes for interesting reads and great stories, but not fun to play for a majority of gamers. Really? How much would you enjoy it if you misclicked and aged 30 years? 😉
I am more than a little outraged and appalled by this. I have been reading your work for more than two decades and would be shocked if the guys who did the Sheogorath storyline for Oblivion (Elder Scrolls) were not directly influenced by your work. Whoever turned you down or wasnt interested was, to be blunt, a donkeys rear end and whoever does see the worlds you have created for what they are and turns them into a game will definitely prosper. Anyhow, thank you for your work. Especially for the poetry within it. It is a great gift to us and we deeply appreciate it.
